Thomas always makes highly adventurous musical selections when we choose songs to work on in lessons. This is no exception. This last event had a bit of everything: a marimba adaptation of a pop song, some jazz piano trio performance, and a 1980’s metal anthem, Van Halen’s Hot for Teacher. Anyone who is familiar with this track knows that the double bass drum shuffle runs throughout the entire track, and requires a LOT of concentration, especially so during the opening drum intro.

Alex has been with groove almost from the very beginning when we opened in late 2018. He has shown tremendous growth as a player, and that has everything to do with consistent practice on the instrument.

Ryan C joined the studio recently to study mallet instruments and music theory. He is off to an absolutely great start!
