Call for Submissions

Authors, Playwrights, Poets & Storytellers are encouraged to apply for the inaugural Rhythm & Words: A Spoken Word Event, which will occur on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at The Kennett Flash.

By submitting your work in response to this Call, you agree to be bound by the Terms and Condition. You must submit via the button at the bottom of this page.

NOTE: THE SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59PM FEBRUARY 22, 2020.

RULES & ELIGIBILITY

  1. This Call is open to all writers at all levels who are at least eighteen years of age or older at the time of entry.

  2. Entrants from anywhere in the world are eligible, except where prohibited by law in the state, province or country where the Entrant is located.

  3. All material submitted to other competitions or contests are eligible.

  4. The material submitted must be deliverable by the author (or by the author’s designee) within a span of ten (10) minutes. Therefore, it is recommended that the work submitted is less than 1,500 words.

  5. There are no requirements as to when the material was written.

  6. Adaptations are ineligible unless the underlying rights are owned by the writer or the work is in the public domain.

  7. The material must not be encumbered by any obligation to, or option held by, a third party prior to entering the competition.

  8. If a script based on a submitted concept sentence or logline becomes optioned, produced, or purchased between the time of submission and the end of the Contest period, that entry will no longer be eligible.

  9. All immediate family members and household members of GrooveKSQ, LLC are prohibited from submitting for consideration.

  10. The judges who will review and select the work presented are also not eligible to submit.

  11. Submissions are accepted via electronic submission by email to bryan@grooveksq.com in MS Word or .pdf format.

  12. All submissions require an entry fee of $25 per submission and will be eligible to win a cash prize to be announced.

  13. There is no limit to the number of projects an entrant may submit.

  14. Submission fee payment must be made in full at time of submission for entries to be considered eligible. All entry fees are non-refundable.

  15. All submitted material must be original, and all rights must be wholly owned by the writer(s).

  16. Material must be submitted by the writer. Material written by writing teams must be submitted by one of the writers, with consent of the other(s).

  17. If a writing team is chosen as a winner, prizes will be given to the person who submits the project. Each team is responsible for dividing or sharing the prize money.

  18. All ownership and rights to the ideas submitted to this contest remains with the original rights holders.

  19. BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, THE APPLICANT HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS AND DEFEND GROOVEKSQ, LLC, ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES FROM ANY LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEY FEES THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTIONS THEREWITH.
